An international conference on open source GIS. Probably a good website for finding interesting projects.

Open Source Options for CAD software

A few open source CAD options. I haven't tried any of these out yet. But I will. Eventually I might get persuaded to move over to open source OSs as well. It feels kind of like going vegetarian or vegan.

Blog Statement of Intent

Infinite Monkey Design

We've spent the past century developing and safe guarding a complicated READ ONLY economy and culture, also known as consumerism. How can we develop a READ/WRITE economy and culture of design through Open Source, interfacing and networking?

My project is exploding and popularizing the tools and authorship of professional architecture, urbanity, and design in general. I'm investigating the potential of emerging technologies/trends in networking, rapid fabrication, distributed processing and how intelligent 3D modeling will interface with popular culture. Behind my project is an ethic of Open Source exchanging of ideas/designs, and fascination with how amateurs have led to innovations in countless fields, in large part through the ability to network and rapidly produce iterations.

Imagine: Google's Street View and Flickr's user tagged images processed with photo-to-3D modeling software and imported into simulation video games like SimCity or Second Life with real world information. How could video games be used to simulate and rapidly processes multitudes of iterations on urban design?
